![]() ![]() I stepped into some scat (vocals not dog shit) performance to play on the “Hollywood” setting of this story. So rather than rebrand his theme that I created, I wanted to focus on the story themes of Friend of the Devil. ![]() We’ve seen him fall into tropes, follow his emotions, and falter as the cases he works on show their insidious underside. ![]() We know Ethan Reckless, a private investigator with a storied past he holds close to his chest. And now here we are, with a complete track for Friend of the Devil while the demo for the first book collects dust (as much as a digital file can… I promise it’s coming soon). Ultimately, I think this is why I got excited about the conversion of a new idea into something that still fit the Reckless title, but felt different from what I had already done. An easy riding bass line with some descending chords on the electric guitar. It’s got more of the conventional vibe you’d expect for a 70’s style private eye story. About 3 months prior to this track’s conception I had begun work on a theme for the first Reckless book. ![]() It’s funny how inspiration strikes sometimes, you don’t know what you have until you have it. I’ll be honest: As I started work on this track, it wasn’t originally intended for the Reckless book. ![]()
